Day Part Reservations
Resercal launched with reservable 'day parts' meaning that you could set up the booking choices to be standardized blocks of hours in a 24hr cycle. We had two clients on day one: a beach house and a residential association pool.
Beach House - Day Parts
The first use case was a beach house that needed just two standard time slot options:
'Day' = 10am-4pm
'Night' = 4pm-10am
The reasoning behind these multi-hour blocks was that the day should not start so early that anyone who had stayed over night would have to rush to clean up and vacate, and the night should start with enough time to enjoy a sundowner and prepare for a cookout dinner.
The clients wanted to offer their group these standard options to:
- Make it simple to use - just two choices for members.
- Standardize use so that it could be tallied up at the end of the season and a use fee assessed for days and nights used. This system made it fairer to out-of-state members of the group who paid an equal share of ownership costs but were only able to visit occasionally versus locals who also paid an equal share of ownership costs but had the opportunity to visit more frequently and were therefore heavy users.
Pool - Day Parts
The second use case was a pool that multiple families shared use of. During the pandemic they needed an online reservation tool to allow for Covid-safe distancing.
We set up their Resercal account with 1 hour slots available from 9am until 8pm so that each family could reserve an hour or multiple hours ahead of time. The group added a rule to the 'rules' page in the app to ask that nobody reserve more than 3 consecutive hours to avoid blocking on hot days.
As time went on and we spoke to new clients it quickly became apparent that there was a need for multiple-night booking options. One example was a shared ski house that families rotated through with 2-week visits. It would be cumbersome for them to reserve multiple days and nights via the day parts system when reserving a 2 week stay, so we built a multi-night reservation option.
Choosing the dates - we added an easy-to-use date picker that shows your selection and greys out unavailable dates.

Now clients have the flexibility to choose either multi-night reservations or day parts.
Let us know what you need and at account initiation we can set up your Resercal with standardized time slots - either nights or multi-hour day parts - for your members to pick from.
If you aren't sure which option would work best for you please do get in touch. We'd love to hear about your situation and see if Resercal would be a good fit.
